'That's Sound' ...Bringing Balance to Audio Across the Spectrum by supporting girls in Scotland to study and work in sound.
The primary aim of the project is to begin addressing the huge gender imbalance that exists in professional audio across the industry.
With just 5% being a currently quoted figure for females currently working across the sector, it is most definitely an area that needs addressed. Research has shown that girls lack confidence due to a lack of role models in these fields, lack of exposure to and demystifying technology at an early stage and lack of support in terms of study and career options.
That's Sound event at Platform on Thursday 23rd February is aimed primarily at school age females from primary 6 through to S6 and is set out to be a fun, interactive and informative session.
There will be workshops and demonstrations of various applications of professional audio such as live music set ups and audio post production for film and TV.
Emma Pollock of Chemikal Underground Records/Chem19 studios will be speaking at the event about her own experience, support for this type of project and her own aims in encouraging more females into the industry.
Musician and engineer Katy Walsh will be delivering a live sound workshop and taking part in the Q and A, as will Carla from Firestone music.
The sessions will finish off with live music performances.
It's set to be a great day, be part of it!
